Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (DIETI)

In 2022, Giovanni M. De Filippis completed his Master's degree in Biology, with a specialization in Human Molecular Genetics and Nutrition, at the University of Federico II in Naples. In the same year, he obtained professional certification from the National Order of Biologists (ONB).

In 2023, he received a scholarship from the University of Federico II for his work on developing a resource platform in the field of Nutrigenomics. His tasks included assembling a genomic-scale database of nutrition-associated polymorphisms for the development of predictive genetic tests in personalized nutrition. In this project, he contributed to the ideation and development of data mining and data merging algorithms integrating biological data from multiple sources.

He is currently a PhD student in Computational and Quantitative Biology (CQB) at the University of Naples Federico II. His PhD project aims to develop novel integrative bioinformatics tools to provide a global view of different biological data sources and support the representation and analysis of biological processes through trans-omics networks.

His research interests include bioinformatics, systems biology, genomics, information retrieval, ontologies and data merging.

De Filippis is part of the Intelligent Knowledge Systems Lab (IKNOS LAB) and Computational and Systems Biology Lab (COSMO LAB) at CNR IEOS-UNINA.
